Healthscope is working closely with Federal and State health authorities on a coordinated response to the COVID-19 outbreak, and has taken the appropriate steps to ensure the safety of our patients and hospital staff.
In addition to our existing strict hospital hygiene and infection control protocols, we have introduced additional safety measures, including limiting patient visitors and visiting hours, cancelling non-essential gatherings and implementing social distancing practices across our hospitals. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we look to protect our staff, patients and the wider community during these challenging times.
Important information for patients and their families regarding elective surgery
The Federal Government has announced it is safe and appropriate to recommence certain non-urgent elective surgeries, following Australia’s thus far successful COVID-19 response coupled with sufficient stocks of PPE.
If you are awaiting surgery or looking to reschedule, please contact your treating physician in first instance. We look forward to welcoming you to our hospital.
Patient and hospital staff safety
For patient and hospital staff safety, additional patient screening protocols are now being undertaken prior to patients being admitted. Please contact your local hospital to understand what this means for you. Our hospitals have also implemented social distancing measures to further protect patients and staff.
Advice for visitors
For the safety of all hospital patients and staff, Healthscope has limited the number of visitors to our hospitals. Please check the current visitor restrictions at your hospital by visiting their website or contacting them directly. Any visitors must not have travelled overseas in the last 14 days, nor be unwell. We recommend others wishing to visit instead call their loved ones via the hospital switchboard or direct room number.
