		Name : Helena Brundell Position : Clinical Nurse Educator Department : Education Site : Norwest Private Hospital Helena became aware of a patient who had developed an infection at another hospital. After extensive treatment to try and cure the infection nothing was successful and the decision was made to amputate his leg. This was as a direct result of poor hand hygiene practices. The effects on Ken and his family were devastating. Helena recognised this as a very powerful message and with Ken's involvement and help from her family she made a very powerful video to share the message of the devastating consequences of poor hand hygiene practices. This has now been incorporated into the Back to Bedside resource tool kit and included in the Hand Hygiene education program. Ken's story can be found on HINT
