Alyson is Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner who coordinates a Consultation Liaison (Psychiatry) Service to Holmesglen Private Hospital. Although the Consultation Liaison (CL) role is well established in the public healthcare sector there are no local CL examples of existing in the private sector and hers is the only role within Healthscope currently. The increasing presence of mental health issues in the acute patient setting is a growing reality for all nurses, doctors and allied health professionals. It is a direct reflections of the increasing incidence of mental health issues in society and the growing realization of how diagnosis of medical conditions impacts people in general.

Alyson works both collaboratively and autonomously within the Holmesglen healthcare team by providing an interface between acute care and psychiatric care. She provides clinical leadership to VMOs, nursing and allied health staff. She has developed and implemented this unique and innovative role which was borne out of her own initiative and effort and not in response to a corporate driven project.

The Geelong Clinic have been part of the Implementation of the Centralised Procurement project. Amy and Kerryn have proactively responded to the opportunity and to be the champions of this implementation. They have worked collaboratively with the project lead to ensure success. Amy and Kerryn have embraced the change. The outcome has led to accurate recording of supply items ordered and receipted in a timely manner, orders being processed regularly which provides efficiency and has been managed appropriately.
