Humans of Healthscope with Jess Fletcher, Disability Support Worker, Healthscope Independence Services (HIS)

"Every day I am able to make a difference in the lives of my residents. I get to watch them achieve personal goals, big and small, and it makes me so proud to be a part of that journey."

Jess is part of our Healthscope Independence Services team who provide support and care to clients with a range of disabilities such as acquired brain injuries and complex conditions in 15 houses across Australia. We also have an in-home service for clients who are more independent or have left hospital and require additional support at home.

Having been a valued part of the team for the last 15 months, with the support of her workmates Jess has recently developed her skills and become a key worker for two high-complex needs clients.

"It's been wonderful to be able to learn from team members who have so much experience. The friendships we have made make going to work every day so much more than just a job", she says.

She's been passionate about serving her community since she was a child and if she wasn't working as a Disability Support Worker would have liked to have worked in aged care.

Thank you to Jess and our HIS team who are so passionate about providing exceptional care and support our clients to develop their independence in a safe and supportive environment.
