Tell us about your career to date

My latest role before joining Healthscope was as the Executive Director of Operations, Sydney Local Health District. I was also the Chief Operating Officer at the Alfred Health Service, Melbourne and served as the General Manager of Concord Repatriation General Hospital and Balmain Hospital.

After completing my Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Information Management), I completed the Graduate Health Management Training Program which was life changing as it set the foundation for my career in health services management.

I have a Masters in Health Services Management and have also completed a Doctor of Business Administration.

What drew you to your role at Healthscope?

It is an exciting time with the company growing and continuing to evolve. The opportunity to contribute to this in a successful private healthcare company was very appealing. I was particularly excited to have the opportunity to work at Nepean where there is so much investment and development occurring. The Public Hospital is massively growing and there will be opportunities for Nepean Private to grow too. We are in the middle of a population boom and with the second Sydney Airport being built ‘the aerotropolis’ in greater western Sydney, I am confident that this will bring additional opportunities for Nepean Private also.

What do you see as your opportunities /priorities in the role, and your aspiration for Healthscope’s operations?

We have a redevelopment that is just commencing, so I am very excited to be leading this over the next couple of years. It is really generating some excitement within the team. We need to maintain our competitive edge over the competition that is emerging, and continue to grow our surgical operations. The expansion will give us an opportunity to achieve this.

What are your interests and hobbies outside of work?

I have a young family, Robbie is 5 and Abigail 3, so I spend as much time as I can with them on the weekend. They are both tremendous fun. I love the footy ‘NRL’ and have been a Wests Tigers (previously Balmain) fan for as long as I can remember.

I also love motorcycle riding when I get time. That is my form of meditation. Getting out on the open road and living in the moment, concentrating on the road ahead. I have a Triumph Bobber which I have been modifying over time which keeps me busy too
