24 August 2023
Healthscope is investing more than $35 million into a staged redevelopment of the Mount Hospital (Mount).
This investment by Healthscope acknowledges the significant role that the Mount plays in not only caring for the Western Australian community but the expertise it delivers to the broader healthcare sector.
Early works have commenced for the largest stage of the redevelopment, which will see upgrades to the hospital’s existing infrastructure and clinical facilities, with the goal of improving patient experience.
“The Mount has been supporting the Western Australian community for more than 30 years. We are the leading private Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery hospital in the state,” said Mount Hospital General Manager Greg Brylski.
“I’m extremely proud to be leading this important project to further enhance our reputation and to deliver a world-class healthcare experience for our patients.
“As part of the project, it’s exciting to be installing the latest technology and facilities to support our clinical teams achieve great results,” he said.
At the beginning of August, the Mount opened its $3.3million upgraded Cardiac Catheter (Cath) Labs as part of the redevelopment.
“The Mount is one of the busiest cardiac centres in Australia. The new/upgraded labs now mean that we have access to the latest cardiac imaging equipment and technology,” said Dr Chris Judkins Director of Training and Research at Mount Hospital.
“The new technology in the Cardiac Cath Labs provides doctors better image quality at a lower radiation dose, as well as allowing for the integration of additional tools into the new system. This will allow doctors to have access to more information for decision making to ultimately improve patient outcomes.”
The Redevelopment Project includes:
- A new waiting and reception area
- A retail pharmacy
- The addition of a new day surgery admission and reception area on Level 1.
- Redevelopment of Level 2 to have 35 private rooms with ensuite and a new Clinical Support Services area.
The Mount will remain open throughout the redevelopment project. The program of works has been staged to ensure there is minimal impact to patients and families accessing the hospital.
The project is due for completion in the first half of 2024.
