The National Capital Private Hospital

Canberra, ACT – Nov, 2021 – National Capital Private Hospital has become the first Australian hospital to receive Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) accreditations as a Centre of Excellence in Joint Replacement and Robotic Joint Replacement.

Centre of Excellence Accreditation is the SRC’s highest awarded recognition for quality of care and patient safety.

The facility and accredited surgeons have undergone an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure they meet SRC’s requirements. These standards pertain to surgical volumes, facility equipment, clinical pathways and standardised operating procedures, an emphasis on patient education and continuous quality assessment. The inspection involves all staff working in the accredited program. Inspectors educate staff on best practices to help an organisation improve its care and services.

General Manager Elizabeth Porritt said of the accreditation was a testament to the skills and professionalism of National Capital’s clinicians and surgeons.

“National Capital Private Hospital is excited and immensely proud of the fantastic effort undertaken by staff and surgeons to be awarded SRC accreditation. The team has worked hard to ensure that our patients' joint replacement journey is a positive one, with the very best outcomes. We look forward to continuing our partnership with our many orthopaedic surgeons to provide the best care for their patients.”

“We’re proud to recognise National Capital Private Hospital for their commitment to advancing and providing quality care for all patients,” said Gary M. Pratt, CEO of SRC. “This accreditation signals that this hospital is among the best in this specialty and is dedicated to delivering the highest level of care possible.”

Status as an accredited hospital means that National Capital Private Hospital has met internationally recognised standards. The accreditation bolsters the hospitals growing list of world class services and facilities following an expansion and development plan that has delivered additional state-of-the-art operating theatres, including a hybrid theatre for complex cardiac, vascular and neurosurgery, supported by a 22-bed intensive care unit; and a 18-bed coronary care unit, bringing total capacity to 148 beds.
