Healthscope COVID-19 vaccination information

Healthscope is responsible for providing a safe workplace and in doing so reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. Vaccination is the most effective way to reduce deaths and severe illness and offers the highest order safety control against COVID-19. We want to offer our people, patients and partners, a safe workplace and the greatest protection possible.

Healthscope is proudly the first private hospital network in Australia to announce an intent to introduce a national COVID-19 vaccination policy, demonstrating that the safety of our people, patients and partners is our number one priority. Our Healthscope COVID-19 Vaccination Policy – Workers has been finalised and is provided here, along with associated forms and a FAQ.

Our national policy will be effective immediately with those covered by the policy (staff, volunteers and sole traders/independent contractors) required to be fully vaccinated by 31 January 2022. However, where Public Health Orders or government directives mandate vaccinations for earlier dates, those earlier dates apply.

Healthscope has decided the same vaccination requirement for staff will apply to people working or present on Healthscope premises including VMOs, suppliers, contractors and students. The policy that applies to VMOs and other accredited practitioners is available here.

With respect to patients, Healthscope does not plan to impose a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirement since our guiding principle is that all patients, regardless of vaccination status, should have equal access to care at Healthscope hospitals. However, extra control measures may be utilised to optimise the safety of all patients and staff as the situation in each state continues to evolve over coming months.

Healthscope’s visitor guidelines have been issued with a guiding principle that visitors must be fully vaccinated. However, each site is responsible for determining the workflows and procedures around visitors necessary to keep our people and patients safe. Visitor restrictions and the range of safety controls employed at sites are likely to change as conditions change in the local and state environment.
